Hi folks,

Does anyone know how 'wait time' is calculated in Accession?

I'm referring to the wait time listed in the report outputs of public transport calculations. Is it simply the headway of all services passing a stop divided by two or something more complex accounting for journey planning beyond a 'turn up and go' frequency? Is there a different approach by mode?

Thanks,

Jeremy

I'm not sure you want to go there with that question :-)

Wait time (I believe) is calcualted using the following method...

From the destination: Sample time (i.e. how often Accession calculates a journey, default = 5 minutes) MINUS walk time from egress stop to destination plus any time when waiting for interchange... There is no wait time at the access stop (where PT is first used) due to the backward calculation method (this is due to the speed of calcualtion). Wait time is therefore a more a product of sample times rather than actual wait. Note this is the method I was told way back in 2004 during testing so perhaps it has changed...

Hope this helps!
