About Me Thought I would get the posting off to a start, I am Dan, I work for Basemap and look after the Accession product in the UK on behalf of Citilabs, this includes support and sales of the software. Many of you I am sure will have received an e-mail from me at some point. I also deal with data, I look after various data types that can be used in Accession and am always on the lookout for new data that can be used to enhance the software or new ideas of what data would be useful.

If you ever need to contact me for Accession then my e-mail is Accessionsupport@Citilabs.com

Destination Data for NI 175 Hi All,

Just had a meeting with the DFT and they have let me know where you can get various destination data,

The raw destination / service data are available from the ‘2008-Destination Data.xls’ file at link
These can be used for LAs to check which destinations have been included in their LA or surrounding LAs as part of the construction of the Core Accessibility Indicators. For further guidance, see question 3.2 in the guidance document, available at link

CIF Data From what i have seen of public authority data the REF file usually contains only the stops for that area, this needs to be imported together with the Bus data and select append. Alternatively you can import the REF file first and then import the BUS file.

Destination Data for NI 175 This is the response i got

Our foodstore dataset is taken from Pitney Bowes MapInfo Retail locations dataset which provides the location of grocery/supermarkets and convenience stores.

The locations used in the 2008 Core Accessibility Indicators are available at http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/datatablespublications/ltp/coreaccessindicators2008 in the ‘2008_destination data’ download.

Hope this helps.

CIF Data The 2009 data is being digitised at the moment, last year the 2008 data was released in March 2009. I would think that a similar timescale will be applicable for the new data.

We can supply this data for you, this is done through Department for Transport and will cost you the same as it would if you purchased it direct.

New Road Links Hi,

In Road Editor there should be a button that looks like a road with detail written underneath. If you select this and then go to New in the top left this will create a new link, press digitise to select the way points on the map. Remember to select a road type and to enter a Speed for that link - you can get these speeds direct from the settings file by pressing "set from settings"

I hope this helps,

CIF Vs TXC Hi Rob,

To answer very simply - there is no difference to how the data is viewed in Accession, a CIF is a flat TXT file and a TXC is an XML file. The difference when importing is that you may need to use NAPTAN data with the TXC data, this is because some of the files don't include the stop information.

If you need any more advice feel free to drop me an e-mail,

NPDTR October 2009 Accession Problem Hi,

This is a Access error, what version of MS Access are you using?

4/13/2010 10:40:22 AM
Free OS data PT data will not be free, had a meeting with Traveline a few weeks ago and they said they had no plans on making data free.

Do you think there would be a need for a third party data downloader/cutter? The problem with the OS data is that you get the whole UK. As an OS partner we are looking at providing a cutting tool, so you cut the area you want off-line then download just that areas data? What do you think?

NPDTR October 2009 Accession Problem Allan,

On this forum in the members area there is a header called Hep Guides, under there is a thread called getting Accession to work with Access 2007 (http://forum.basemap.co.uk/topic4-getting-accession-to-work-with-access-2007.aspx) If you follow these instructions then this will solve the issues, let me know how you get on,

Free OS data Ahh cheers for this, I will look into it. Have a meeting with OS in a couple of weeks so will find out more then.

Free OS data I have been following Vector Map closely since it was announced at Location 09. I look forward to seeing what it can offer to the Accession clients, though unfortunately the sample datasets have a few gaps in the data, hopefully these will be addressed before the full release next month.
