About Me Hi,

My name is Rob, I work in the private sector, I am fairly new to Accession and Accessibility planning having just graduated from Southampton University. Is there a big community out there of Accession users? Also are there many private sector workers or is this software dominated by the public sector?

I look forward to hearing from you fellow users,

Rob

I have just been supplied some local data from a council, I have been given two files - the usual Bus file but i have also been given a REF file, does anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Best Road data to use? Hi,

What road data do we all use? I use the ITN layer, though was speaking with someone the other day who said they use Navteq data with ITIS data attached as this gives more accurate road speeds. Just wondering if any of the users have had any experiences at all with different datasets,

Cheers,

Rob

Speed Data Hi,

Has anyone used car speed data from Trafficmaster or ITIS in Accession? I would be keen to find out peoples experience of this. Also has there been any word on the TomTom dataset?

CIF Vs TXC Hi everyone,

I have the option to get my data in either CIF or Transxchange format, I know Accession can read both of these formats but i have only ever used CIF previously. Does anyone know what is the difference/advantage between these formats? Any help would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob

Free OS data I think this is something that would be useful, the problem with Meridian 2 data is that it comes in separate layers. Would you propose supplying a pre joined layer for just the area that is required?

Free OS data Cheers for all the info, is it only 1:250k Raster that is being given away free? Are the 1:25K and 1:50k still paid for items?

Temporal Accessibility (work in progress) Hi Keith,
Really like the thought behind this, would be great if Accession could produce its own time stamped movie like this.

Local Transport Authority Boundaries Hi MJ,
I believe the areas were split into counrty, district council boundaries. You can find out some more details on them here.

From this list and using the free OS Boundary Line data you should then be able to work out the boundaries?

I personally would load in all the possible ATCO areas, better safe than sorry!

Census 2011 Does anybody know when the 2011 Census is due to be released? Someone said late 2012 - this seems a long time to me!

Cheers,

Census 2011 Hi Carol,

Thanks for clarifying, I think i'm just being impatient! It's just going to be a very powerful dataset when released!

Traveline National Dataset (TNDS) Hi all,
Has anyone managed to use this data in Accession yet?

Census 2011 I have looked on the ONS site found a link to the Census Release prospectus, some useful information.

Census 2011 I think the census data is probably the biggest release of open data in the last 5 years. It is so important for planning decisions, and using the 2001 census is hard to justify to clients - we have to say "we hope the trends remain the same" however with initial feedback of the latest census showing a spike in population of people in their 20's due to immigration - I think showing this change of accessibility numbers will be important. Some clients have indicated that they want us to back process previous outputs using this latest census data. So in short, yes I think this dataset is going to be extremely powerful.

Traveline National Dataset (TNDS) Rowley,
I had issues loading these files, but when i turned off my firewall I was able to load without issue, I think the problem is to do with accessing the internet to validate the TXC file.
